The Nuremberg Fair Biofach brings together colorful and varied products every year, as well as people from the organic-world. Among them is Mladen Falamić, owner and CEO of Protect Pharma d.o.o. from Rakitovica, as well as other Croatian exhibitors.
Organic production is growing agricultural sector and organically grown products are increasingly popular, especially in the west.
For Fiofach fair from 13 to 16 February in Nuremberg, Germany, organic production is more than a label or a certificate – an organic sign of quality, but also the belief that natural resources were responsibly used in production.
People, ideas and tastes – the motto is the Biofach fair, gathering colorful and diverse products every year, as well as people from the organic world. This is where visitors shared their passion for organic food, exchanging opinions, negotiating jobs, discovering trends in this sector, and building new contacts.
Falamić family are exhibiting at Biofach for the first time.
One of them is Mladen Falamić, owner and CEO of Protect Pharma d.o.o. from Rakitovica, not far from Donji Miholjac. This is a young entrepreneur with his family for years in organically certified production, and at Biofach will introduce a variety of products.
Falamić says he has already visited Biofach, but this is the first time they are exhibiting. Located at Hall 4A, booth 521 will present pasta, buckwheat, attractive red and purple pasta with aronia, wheat pasta with hemp, spelt and buckwheat (gluten-free) wholegrain flour, nutritional supplements with health claims such as encapsulated young barley grass, young wheat grass and young nettle leaf. There are also dehydrated berries and powders of haskap, aronia and dry trichomes of hemp, hemp tea, hemp proteins and what are especially proud of – CBD hemp oil.
Mladen Falamić: CBD hemp oil is produced by an innovative method
“At Biofach, we will premiere present CBD hemp oil, with innovative, natural organic-certified hemp seed oil infused with oil from organic flower and full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenoids. In regular oil production, various solvents have to be used, but this oil is produced by our own innovative and natural solvent-free method, “says Falamić, who particularly emphasizes and encapsulated the young grass of barley, wheat and young nettle leafs.
“It’s about nutrition supplements with health claims, so it’s a cure. It’s interesting that young grass has a lot more iron than a young nettle, which surprised us when we did research,” Falamić reveals.
He says Biofach has two tasks – to find buyers of cereals and distributors for organic products that should be found on shelves of smaller chains of healthy products.
Falamić points out that most of his products are sold in Croatia, where there is growing demand for this type of product, but still slower than in the west. The reasons are, economically speaking. Since the production of organic products in Croatia is expensive, they are more expensive products that customers are more difficult to decide.
In addition to Protect Pharma, Biofach also exhibits Croatian exhibitors Eco Patent, PIP, Bogadi, Bobica, Nutrigold, Jan Spider, Exploria, Nutrimedica, Vegetariana, Organica Vita and Galleria Internazionale.
Croatia has good preconditions for the development of organic production.
The data of the International Organization for Environmental Agriculture – IFOAM show that the turnover of organic food products grows at EU level on a yearly basis at a rate of 12% and the value of retail sales is estimated at over 30 billion euros. “Today’s consumers want to live longer, live healthier, consume safe food that is appropriate to their age and lifestyle, and consumer awareness on the need for environmental and natural resources, biodiversity and animal welfare increases. Which is organic produced and minimally processed during production, ie food that is not grown for environmental pollutants such as pesticides or substances with anabolic effect. Croatia has good assumptions for the development of organic production, which at annual level and in agriculture and livestock production recorded double-digit growth. A large marketing space is also available in a specialized tourist offer. For better representation in the tourist offer, stronger association of producers, creation of distribution channels and cooperation with tourism capacities, short supply chains will be needed, “said Vice-President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy for Agriculture and Tourism Dragan Kovačević.
The share of retail sales of organic food products in Croatia’s total retail trade is about 2.5% and in the EU about 5%. The average value of organic food consumption per capita in Croatia is three times lower than the EU average consumption, which is over 60 euros, the HGK said in a statement.
Biofach visits about 50,000 visitors.
It should also be noted that Biofach brings together all those who work respectfully towards life, the environment and the neighbors. The place is for those who are not mainstream, for business women, pioneers in their jobs, activists, innovators, local, small, and larger manufacturers, international.

Namely, the organic market is a market for the future and, therefore, it is even more important to consider how we want to shape this future – today, stands on Biofach pages.
